For generations, the YMCA has been known for its commitment to family life. YMCA programs and services have grown and adapted to the changing needs of families. We understand that today’s working parents need help in managing the demands of working and raising a family. That is why nothing is more important than child care you feel good about.
The Chapel Hill-Carrboro YMCA Preschool Program is committed to being first in quality in the operation of all child care programs. We are committed to putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

The preschool program includes times for self-directed activities, teacher-directed activities and group activities. Areas that are strongly focused on are as follows:
Gross Motor Skills – Daily opportunities to engage in fun, healthy activities to strengthen and develop muscles.
Fine Motor Skills – Activities that are geared towards improving small muscle development and eye-hand coordination.
Story Time/Poetry – Used to enhance and develop the enjoyment of literature, vocabulary, fine motor, art and comprehension skills.
Theme Based Weeks – Activities will cover language, vocabulary, fine motor, art, perception, gross motor, sensory experiences, songs, finger play, dramatic play, story time and poetry.
Enrollment
The YMCA Preschool Program is open to all children who may benefit from our type of program regardless of race, creed, sex, religion, nationality or ability to pay. We guarantee placements in our program only if we have your child’s enrollment application, health form, emergency medical form, permission regarding the administration of medication, conduct agreement and registration fee. The above applies as long as there are openings available. If there are no spaces available, a child may be put on the waiting list.
Program Content
Our Preschool Program is designed to prepare our rising kindergarteners for a smooth transition into their first year of school. Our curriculum is an introduction to letters, numbers, shapes and colors with age appropriate skills and themes. We strive to create an environment that is warm, loving and fun, yet blended with structure and curriculum to challenge our preschoolers.
Ages and Hours
Ages: 3 - 5 (must be 3 by August 1, 2008 and must be completely toilet-trained)
Hours: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Our Preschool Program ends at 1:00 pm daily. A late charge of $5.00 per child is assessed every 15 minutes and must be paid with monthly fees.
Registration for 2008-2009
Registration will be Monday, April 14th for YMCA members and Monday, April 28th for non-members. A $30.00 registration fee is due upon enrollment in the program and is non-refundable and non-transferable. A new registration fee is applied to each new program.
Fees and Payments
$375 for YMCA members
$425 for nonmembers
All fees are due by the 5th of the month. If payment for the current month has not been paid by 8:30 pm on the 15th, a late fee of $10.00 per child will automatically be added to the balance. Failure to pay overdue balances can result in termination of child care services.
Cancellation Policy
We require a written 2-week cancellation notice in order to withdraw from the preschool program. All fees will still apply until cancellation is received. Cancellation forms are available at the front desk of the YMCA. |
