At the Y, we believe that the relationships that kids develop with older adults contribute valuable life lessons that help them as they grow. The Children’s Center @ Carol Woods, our five-star licensed full day preschool in Chapel Hill, which is part of an intergenerational village on the campus of Carol Woods Retirement Community, gives kids the chance for such connections.
At the Center, we offer a safe, nurturing preschool environment, which is open year round from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, in which children 15 months to 5 years old can learn, grow, and develop social skills. With the values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility as our guide, our daycare teachers work with you every day to help your child have fun while realizing his/her potential.
Under the loving guidance of two highly qualified co-teachers, the children in each of our four classrooms explore the world around them, as they discover who they are and what they can achieve. Through the implementation of a comprehensive, scientifically-based early childhood curriculum entitled The Creative Curriculum®, by Diane Tristan Dodge, teachers encourage kids to actively explore their environment as they become independent, self-confident life-long learners.
Complementing the rewarding experiences that the kids have within the Center are the various activities in which they take part throughout the Carol Woods community. Life lessons are gained as we bring together people of different ages to pursue common interests and provide mutual support.
