On September 11, join your fellow Y members and Y staff for the 9/11 Day of Service as we volunteer in Durham. We’ll be volunteering with Habitat for Humanity on four job sites, building homes for families in our community. Help us commemorate those who serve our country and honor the value of supporting each other.
This day is an opportunity for families and friends to unite and serve our community as a tribute to our American nation. Space is limited, and we want you to be able to participate, so sign up early!
September 11, with two options for times. We have 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 1 – 5 p.m. available. Lunch will be served for both shifts.
Registratin opens August 4. Complete the attached registration form and drop it by any Durham YMCA to register. Participants must be at least 16 years old to participate.

At the Y, we believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. And that’s what Y Afterschool is all about. We’re dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn, grow and develop social skills. Our afterschool program serves all of the Chapel Hill – Carrboro City Schools from Kindergarten through 8th grade. At the Y, we believe the ability to swim is a critical life skill for everyone. In swim lessons, we use a variety of fun methods to help kids overcome fears, build confidence in the water and develop skills that last a lifetime. Qualified instructors meet swimmers at their own level and celebrate all successes. By educating and partnering with swimmers, we’re determined to prevent drowning in our community.
